The 2nd Anniversary celebration is over as of today, when we're announcing the winners. Honestly, we expected a lot more comments, more users, eager to get a free extended license for our Coquettes...Anyway, we are very thankful to all our users that had the time to leave a comment, and those who were too lazy to do that :)

14 August, 2009

I first came in contact with Sudoku a few years ago, back when I was a student. I traveled a lot, about three hours one-way at least twice a month, and it was a real pleasure "not" to waste my time just staring in the moving environment, although even that can be fun sometimes, but it gets a bit dull after the first couple of trips and then it simply makes you asleep :)
Few months ago I got obsessed with it, again, I've started solving Sudoku puzzles in a specialized Sudoku magazines (daily newspapers puzzles weren't enough anymore), and it's become a real office mind-stimulating treatment... Try making a short Sudoku-solving break every time you're coding something, in a short time you'll find algorithms leaking out of your brains, and coding faster than you've ever had :)... No, seriously, it has some strange positive influence on your (or mine at least) logic, maybe because there is so much logic in it... even though it's so simple game.
I wanted to go deeper this time... you know "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", find out more about it, reach for its "essence", build an algorithm or two and then do a bit of coding.
It sounds like a story so far ain't it :), yet this post is intended to be a showcase of some approaches and algorithms for creating a Sudoku puzzles and games. So let's get technical...

Introduction

One of the main aspects of the branding process includes logo development. Your logo, or brand mark, in other words, needs to reflect your brand accurately, as it will play a huge role in your brand recognition. This however doesn't mean that the branding process ends when you've developed your logo, branding takes a lot of time, commitment, managing skills and finally, the ability to reflect the image you want others to have of you and your business

This tutorial is intended to benefit both our potential clients, so they can have a fully comprehensive overview of our logo design process and methods; and many of our users, interested in the process of designing and developing a logo.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we're going to design and develop a logo for an imaginary company, called "LTD", short from Logo Tutorial by DryIcons.

The selection of popular music in films is one of the most important parts of the film-making project. The importance of music consists of that special, unique way music connects a certain scene from the film with the audience, much different from the narrative.
This connection goes far beyond, it connects you, the audience, with the film- on another, more personal level. Suddenly we find ourselves building relationships with the film's characters because of their taste in music, we're fancying the director/music supervisor for their selection of music, or we simply relate to the film better with the help of music.
This list is a personal selection of great use of pop music in great films.

The DryIcons website has grown so much in the past year, it's slowly becoming a monster (but it's one of those cute ones). Well aware of this fact we've made a monstrous decision to redesign the DryIcons website. We assure you, this was not an easy decision to make, but as time passed, the redesign project became a necessity, so the need to update the design was kind of self-made (by our monster-child), it was simply inevitable.

Update: We are happy to announce the entrance into the final phase of our anniversary's celebration. As of now -- November 10th, 00:00 CET -- we are starting our extra-fast computers which run a super-intelligent application designed just for the occasion to select the two winners of our competition We are only dramatizing a bit :o). Anyway, the comments will be temporary disabled. The winners will be notified by email at certain time tomorrow.

Good luck to all of you!
